A recent water system failure caused over 400,000 gallons of water to drain from town tanks into the Paria and Lake Mead in approximately three hours, according to a September 3 report from the Mayor.
The broken pipe has placed the road at Bull Dog in jeopardy, requiring the supply line to be repositioned and reconnected.
The town's response to the water crisis included assistance from engineering companies, the county, and the use of a cross-connection and a well. Klinton C has been conducting additional water tests to ensure water quality remains within specifications following the break in the supply line.
In other town updates, the town is selling a Cummins Diesel 125 KW backup generator for $10,000 OBO through Alma Fletcher. Additionally, Stage 1 fire restrictions remain in place, and the town is seeking volunteers for September training and new firefighters.
Cannonville will host a Constitution Day celebration on Saturday, September 19, at the town park. The event begins at 6 p.m. with a BBQ chicken dinner, a patriotic program featuring guests Ms. Betsy Ross and her family, and line dancing.
The town is also holding a T-shirt design contest. Residents are invited to design a Cannonville-themed T-shirt and submit it to Mayor Scoffield or Clerk Machele Nelson by September 18. The winner will receive a $75.00 prize and a special gift from Mayor and Cherie Scoffield.
Upcoming town meetings are scheduled for September 16, with a planning council meeting at 7 p.m. and a community meeting at 6 p.m.
