How to file protective orders
According to information from Duchesne County, individuals seeking a protective order must complete forms and file them with the district court in the county where the abuse occurred or where the parties reside. The process involves presenting identification to a clerk, who then assigns a case number and judge before taking the petitioner to an ex parte hearing.
Serving respondents and legal resources
The county noted that once forms are filed, the County Sheriff is responsible for serving the respondent. Duchesne County also highlighted resources such as the Online Court Assistance Program at utcourts.gov to help residents prepare necessary legal documents.
Reporting public fund theft
Separately, the Emery County Sheriff's Office maintained resources for reporting the theft or embezzlement of public funds by government employees. The office provides telephone lines in both English and Spanish to report such incidents, as well as an online reporting option through Lighthouse Services.
