The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced $10.7 million for clean water infrastructure at Santo Domingo Pueblo on May 1, 2026.
This announcement follows a previous directive from the Indian Health Service that allocated $700 million in infrastructure funds to tribal water projects.
The Indian Health Service has also announced three project selections for its Long-Term Care Joint Venture Construction Program as of April 29, 2026.
Additionally, the agency is currently accepting applications for the IHS Small Ambulatory Program.
Other recent agency developments include an initiative to end the use of mercury-containing dental amalgam by 2027 and the launch of the largest hiring effort in the agency's history earlier this year.
In leadership updates, Clayton Fulton, the IHS Chief of Staff, assumed delegable duties of the Agency Director in December 2025.
