In a report published August 17, it was announced that the Lake Mountain School District has acquired a 100-acre site in Eagle Mountain, Utah, to establish a unique joint education campus. The project is designed to bring together secondary and postsecondary institutions to revolutionize community education delivery.
The acquisition was approved by the district's board and marks a milestone for the district, which was formed in 2024 following the split of the Alpine School District. Serving Saratoga Springs, Eagle Mountain, Cedar Fort, and Fairfield, the district is responding to rapid local growth.
Board President Julie King described the land purchase as a bold, forward-thinking investment in the future of the community. King also noted that the area is expected to be a nucleus of growth in the state.
The proposed campus will house a new high school alongside facilities for Utah Valley University (UVU) and Mountainland Technical College. This collaborative model intends to create a seamless educational pathway, allowing students to transition from high school to technical certifications or four-year degrees on a single campus.
Clay Christensen, president of Mountainland Technical College, stated that bringing programs directly to the Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs communities creates a seamless pathway into high-demand careers.
Beyond secondary students, the campus is intended to serve adult learners in Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain by providing expanded access to continuing education and certification programs.
Data from the University of Utah's Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute indicates that Saratoga Springs and Eagle Mountain are among the fastest-growing cities in Utah. Saratoga Springs led the state in growth between July 2024 and July 2025, followed closely by Eagle Mountain. The two cities currently have a combined population exceeding 125,000.
Planning and design for the high school and shared facilities will begin once capital funding is secured. The district has committed to providing community updates regarding timelines and public engagement opportunities as the project moves forward.
