President Dallin H. Oaks, President of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, taught during the Sunday morning session of the October 2026 general conference that the Savior's grace is for all. Speaking in Salt Lake City on Oct. 4, 2026, he stated that the Church is home to the restored doctrine and authority of the Savior.
During his address, President Oaks noted that individuals around the world are currently searching for God and eternal truths. He explained that the challenges of mortality provide opportunities to develop faith in Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. He stated that strong faith requires more than just desire, requiring instead daily effort through prayer and scriptural learning.
President Oaks addressed the importance of patience regarding personal progress and the reconciliation of science and religion. He noted that while scientific understanding and religious teachings may sometimes seem to conflict, there is no ultimate conflict between the two methods of obtaining knowledge, as God expects individuals to learn through both.
Referencing the Book of Mormon, President Oaks shared several teachings to strengthen testimonies of the Savior. He noted that the Book of Mormon teaches that Jesus died for all men to allow for forgiveness through His Atonement, provided individuals comply with conditions such as faith, repentance, and baptism. He emphasized that these conditions cannot be compelled but must arise from individual choice and action.
He further taught that the Book of Mormon corrects the idea that God's grace is limited to a chosen few, reiterating that His grace is for everyone. He stated that everyone on earth has the opportunity to experience the reality of Christ through the power of the Holy Ghost.
This Sunday morning address marked President Oaks' second speech in a general conference since he was sustained as Church President during a solemn assembly on April 4, 2026. In previous addresses, he has invited members to act as peacemakers and to maintain momentum in their faith by keeping commandments and covenants.
President Oaks concluded by inviting individuals to live the truths found in the Book of Mormon and to share them with others to draw closer to Jesus Christ.
