Draper City is managing several community updates involving new state laws for electric vehicles and regional water restrictions. The Utah Legislature recently implemented changes to state law regarding e-motorcycles, which are scheduled to take effect on May 6, 2026.
Due to ongoing severe drought conditions, the Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District and its member agencies, including Draper City, have adopted a Level 2 water availability for communities throughout the region.
In terms of infrastructure, Draper City has entered into a contract with Morgan Pavement for maintenance on various city streets. This work began on April 30 and is expected to be completed by September.
Public safety updates include a presentation from the Draper City Fire Department regarding High-Risk Wildland Urban Interface (WUI) risks, originally presented on April 15, 2026. Additionally, a new state wildfire risk map has been released showing property ratings.
The Draper Police Department has noted frequent calls regarding the improper use of scooters and other motorized vehicles on public property, primarily involving juveniles. Since June 2024, officers have responded to 13 accidents involving motorized scooters or similar vehicles.
Other local service updates include changes to curbside glass recycling, which requires account creation by September 15. Residents can also utilize the annual bagged leaf collection dumpster at the Draper Public Works building through December 19, weather permitting. For citywide communication, the Notify Draper system has been updated with a new look, though existing subscribers do not need to take action unless they wish to change their contact preferences.
