According to a notice posted to the city's website, several road closures and traffic delays are scheduled in Central and St. George for the St. George Marathon through October 3, 2026.
Setup activities for the marathon will impact traffic in Central and St. George. In Central, flaggers will control traffic during setup. In St. George, 300 South will be closed from 300 East to 400 East starting at 7:00 a.m. on October 2. Traffic on Diagonal, 300 West, Tabernacle, Main Street, and 300 South to Worthen Park will also be impacted as setup continues. Additionally, 400 East and 8500 N in Diamond Valley will be affected for setup activities.
On October 2, a 5K race is scheduled to cause lane and street closures between approximately 6:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. Closures include 300 South from 100 East to 600 East, 600 East from 300 South to 100 South, and 100 South from 600 East to 1000 East for eastbound lanes. Other closures involve 1000 East from 100 South to 400 South for southbound lanes, 400 South from 1000 East to 900 East for westbound lanes, 900 East from 400 South to 600 South for southbound lanes, and 100 East from 600 South to 300 South for northbound lanes between 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.
On October 3, the marathon race day will see street closures beginning as early as 3:00 a.m., with all closures and detours from Central to St. George in place by 6:00 a.m. Most of the course will be closed throughout the race. The Washington County Sheriff’s Office and St. George Police Department will patrol the marked course. Cyclists are restricted to the designated trail along the race route, and officials advise following all directions from law enforcement, traffic-control personnel, and volunteers.
