Real Monarchs announced the signing of RSL Academy defender Linkon Ream. Ream is scheduled to become the 50th homegrown player for the Claret-and-Cobalt in 2027, which will extend the club's lead for the most homegrown players among all MLS sides.
Ream will be on the Real Monarchs payroll until July 2027. Following that period, he will transfer to the MLS portion of his contract ahead of the inaugural Major League Soccer Fall-to-Spring 2027-2028 schedule.
The signing follows Ream's first professional start during a 3-0 loss to San Jose Earthquakes II. Since making his professional debut in March, the defender has logged 98 minutes across four appearances.
During a 3-1 loss to SKC II on May 29, Ream nearly scored his first professional goal from distance. The Herriman native was a regular part of the Claret-and-Cobalt Academy defensive line and played for both U16 and U18 squads.
His academy career included appearances in the Torneo Internacional (LIGA MX Invitational) and K-League International during the U18 2025-26 campaign. He also participated in multiple Generation adidas Cups and MLS NEXT Cup appearances. Ream was part of the U16 squad that achieved a historic double by winning both the Generation adidas Cup and the MLS NEXT Cup in the same season.
Ream's professional contract establishes a brother-sister duo within the RSL pipeline and NWSL sister-club Utah Royals FC, as his sister, KK Ream, is a forward for the Utah Royals FC.
Real Monarchs were scheduled to host Portland Timbers 2 at Zions Bank Stadium on June 13. Following that match, the team was set to embark on a three-match road trip including stops at Tacoma Defiance, Ventura County, and LAFC 2.
