Wendy Dau: Welcome back Provo City. I am Superintendent Dau from the Provo City School District. We hope all of you had a fantastic summer and that you are as excited for the 2026 2027 school year as we are.

I hope all of you are following your school's social media accounts. They've been highlighting lots of different things that they've been working on over the summer. We have been checking in with our different district departments so you can see all of the great work that happens all summer long as we get ready to welcome your students and our families back to school.

So I hope that you'll follow me on Instagram. It's @Suptdau and also Provo City School District, @provocityschooldistrict. And then your individual schools also have Instagram accounts and Facebook accounts that you can follow.

Our teachers are returning to work tomorrow. Our new teachers have already been here but– but all teachers will be back in the building on Tuesday, August 11th. They get a full day of planning and preparation.

School begins promptly on Wednesday, August 19th. We do not have early outs on Wednesday and Thursday. We do have an early out on Friday, just our typical Friday early out schedule. So please make sure that you're planning accordingly that we do not have early outs that first week of school.

Our kindergarten classes will be doing their testing starting on August 19th and going through the 25th. So please contact your school if you have a kindergartner that needs to be tested. And then kindergarten will actually begin on Wednesday, August 26th. And yes, it will be a full day of school for kindergartners.

The Board of Education has finalized their DLI Elementary Boundary Study Committee and contracted also with a group to help us with putting together focus groups and surveys so that they really can make sure that they're gathering feedback and information that is representative of all of our constituents, and really be able to make sure that we are highlighting our parent’s priorities moving forward from across the district.

Please check in with your individual schools about back to school night. Most of our schools are hosting one. This is a great way for your students to feel more comfortable about starting a new school year when they get to meet their teachers ahead of time, start developing those routines this week.

What does it look like to get everything put aside and ready to go, and clothes laid out the night before, so that kids don't run around screwing in the morning, and they're ready to go to school on the first day of school. So be thinking about those routines that you can be putting in place as we get ready for the start of school. It really does make a difference for our students.

Our theme this year is Ignite the Magic. We hope that you will feel that magical feeling and experience in every single school and in the district office as you come and interact with us. We are so excited for this year and we look forward to seeing you soon. Bye now!
