Keyonte George and Ace Bailey are transforming the Utah Jazz's performance during the 2026-27 season, according to an October 27 report. George has recently signed a five-year, $157.5 million contract extension as the team makes its first playoff push since the era of Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert.
George has seen significant statistical growth since his rookie campaign, moving from a 39.1% field goal percentage to an average of 23.6 points per game and 45.6% from the field during the 2025-26 season. Now in his fourth year, he has recorded two double-digit assist games in the first four games of the current season, averaging 8.3 assists per game. George has noted his focus on improving his defensive facets, including help-side and one-on-one defending.
Second-year wing Ace Bailey has become a mainstay in the starting lineup after being bumped from the opening night rotation by point guard Darryn Peterson. Bailey is currently averaging 11.7 points per game and has made a significant defensive impact, averaging over one block per game. In a recent effort against Los Angeles, Bailey recorded 17 points, 12 rebounds, and six offensive rebounds, followed by a performance of 10 rebounds and three rejections the following night.
The Jazz's season faces challenges following recent injuries to Lauri Markkanen and Jaren Jackson Jr. According to a report by The Athletic on Tuesday, Jackson is expected to be out for at least six weeks due to a partially torn MCL.
While the team's identity is still taking shape, the growth of George and Bailey provides optimism for the Utah Jazz roster.
