Girls soccer teams are set to begin the 6A state tournament playoffs on Tuesday, Oct. 14, according to a Lehi Free Press report published Oct. 9. The tournament features local teams including Lehi and Skyridge competing for advancement in the postseason.
Lehi enters the playoffs with a 10-8 overall record and a 4-4 record in Region 3, placing them tied for second in the region. The Pioneers are ranked 6th in 6A and 18th statewide. They will host #11 Herriman (10-8) at home for the first round of the playoffs on Tuesday, Oct. 14. The winner of that contest is scheduled to play the victor of the match between #3 Farmington (11-5) and #14 Weber (7-11) on Oct. 15. Both matches are scheduled for 4 p.m. unless the schools agree to a different time.
Skyridge enters the tournament in a rebuilding stage but has qualified for the playoffs as the final team under the revised format. The Falcons hold a 2-13 overall record and a 1-7 record in Region 3, ranking 16th in 6A and 57th statewide. They will travel to visit #1 Lone Peak (14-3) for their first-round match on Tuesday, Oct. 14. The winner of the Skyridge match will face either #8 Layton (8-8) or #9 Mountain Ridge (11-7) in the quarterfinals on Oct. 15. These matches are also set to begin at 4 p.m. unless moved by mutual consent.
During the preseason, Lehi defeated the Mustangs 2-0 on Aug. 13 and lost 2-3 to the Warriors on Aug. 25. Skyridge lost both of its league contests to the Knights by two goals each.
