The Bureau of Land Management is offering numerous ways for individuals, families, and groups to assist in caring for America's public lands. According to a notice on the agency's website, volunteer efforts help maintain healthy, accessible, and enjoyable public lands through activities such as river cleanups, trail maintenance, and seasonal campground hosting.
Several upcoming volunteer events are scheduled for September 2026. In Utah, the Vernal Field Office has scheduled NPLD Seed Capsules for September 23, 2026, and a Buckskin Open Play Area Boundary Re-mark for September 26, 2026. Other scheduled events include trail work in Montana and a recreation area event in California on September 26, 2026.
The agency also participates in annual celebrations dedicated to conservation and recreation. These include Earth Day in April, National Trails Day in June, and National Public Lands Day in September. National Public Lands Day is described as the largest single-day volunteer event for public lands, with events coordinated by the National Environmental Education Foundation.
Individuals interested in long-term positions or specific local opportunities can contact their local BLM office for more information.
