In a sports roundup published September 12, several Utah prep teams competed in non-region matchups on Saturday. The results included high-scoring baseball games, a volleyball tournament victory, and a dominant soccer performance.
In non-region baseball, the Wayne Badgers secured a doubleheader sweep against the Tintic Miners in Bicknell. In the first game, R.J. Pau'u and Teegan Flanagan each drove in four runs to help Wayne to a 24-23 victory. Camden Johnson, Kelan Bigler, Braylon Jones, Gavin Bratt, Hayze Mason, Logan Larsen, and Tristan Terry each recorded three runs in the loss for the Miners.
Wayne completed the sweep in the second game with a 15-14 win. Canyon Daley and Keaton Giles each drove in three runs for the Badgers, while Kelan Bigler and Gavin Bratt each hit home runs during the loss for the Miners.
In volleyball tournament play, the Tabiona Tigers swept the Wayne Badgers in three straight sets on Saturday. The Tigers won the match 25-8, 25-18, and 25-16. Joy Gines recorded 10 kills for the Tigers, while Lilly Morrill recorded four kills for the Badgers.
In non-region girls soccer, the Richfield Wildcats defeated Enterprise 8-1 in Richfield on Saturday. Claire Hulet and Lilly Evensen both scored two goals in the victory for the Wildcats.
