The San Diego California Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was dedicated in a prayer conducted on August 23, 2026. The dedication was performed at the direction of Church President Dallin H. Oaks.
The prayer dedicated the structure from its foundation and footings to the figure of Moroni atop the highest steeple. Specific dedications were made for the baptistry, sealing rooms with sacred altars, endowment rooms, the celestial room, and all temple facilities and fixtures. The prayer also included the temple grounds and ancillary buildings.
The dedicatory text included references to petitions from President Gordon B. Hinckley regarding the United States and the posterity of Lehi. The prayer sought protection for the temple against nature and desecration, and asked for the preservation of the sacredness of the house.
The dedicatory prayer expressed gratitude for the tithes and offerings of Saints worldwide that made the work possible. It also invoked blessings upon the leaders and members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, including the First Presidency, the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and missionaries.
The prayer acknowledged the restoration of the Holy Priesthood and the importance of the Atonement of Jesus Christ in the plan of redemption.
