The Weber State Wildcats defeated Idaho 38-27 on October 10 during their Homecoming game at Stewart Stadium. The victory marked the team's second consecutive win, improving their record to 4-3 overall and 3-1 in Big Sky Conference play.
The game was marked by two lightning delays, the first of which lasted about 20 minutes. Spencer Ferguson opened the contest with a 75-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage, marking the Wildcats' longest rushing play of the season. Seth Rigtrup contributed a 6-yard touchdown run in the first quarter to extend the lead to 14-0.
After a lightning delay lasting over one hour, Idaho scored a 19-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter to bring the score to 14-7. Weber State's David Dellenbach added a 25-yard field goal in the third quarter to extend the lead to 17-7, but Idaho responded with a 39-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 17-14 before the quarter ended.
In the fourth quarter, Trevian Tribble recorded his first career interception, returning it 19 yards to the Idaho 14-yard line. This set up a 14-yard touchdown pass from Nate Dahle to Noah Kjar, giving Weber State a 24-14 lead. After Idaho scored a 13-yard touchdown pass to make it 24-21, Rigtrup scored on a 16-yard run to push the lead to 31-21.
Ferguson scored his second touchdown of the game on a 2-yard run with 2:46 remaining to extend the lead to 38-21. Trevian Tribble recorded a second interception with 5:39 left, which also led to a touchdown. While Idaho scored on a 14-yard pass with 15 seconds remaining, a failed two-point conversion resulted in a 38-27 final score.
The Wildcats' rushing attack was dominant, totaling 307 yards, including 153 yards and two touchdowns from Ferguson and 129 yards and two touchdowns from Rigtrup. This performance marked the first time in four years that Weber State had two players rush for at least 100 yards in a single game. The defense held Idaho to 113 rushing yards and scored 14 points off turnovers.
Weber State is scheduled to host longtime rival Idaho State on Saturday, Oct. 17, at 1 p.m. for another Homecoming game.
