The National Weather Service issued Flash Flood Warnings across central and southern Utah.
A warning was issued for the Cottonwood Fire burn scar shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The NWS stated that debris flow is expected to impact Cottonwood Canyon downstream to US-89. Residents were instructed to move to higher ground and away from the burn scar immediately.
The National Weather Service noted that flash flooding could be life-threatening and may affect urban areas, streets, underpasses, creeks, and streams.
Additional warnings were issued for the Beaver Creek and Deer Creek Canyon areas at approximately the same time. The NWS expected debris flow from the Silver King burn scar near the Hoover Rest Area and the outlet of Beaver Creek on US-89.
Other warnings were issued for the Kanarrville Falls area, San Rafael River Gorge, Buckhorn Wash, Enterprise, Newcastle, and Beryl Junction.
General warnings also covered the Emory, Garfield, and Wayne County areas.
