In July, the Salt Lake City Fire Department and other City departments held a District 3 Wildland Fire Town Hall. Creating Defensible Space
A good way to get your property ready is to create a defensible space of at least 30 feet around your home. This simple step is one of the most cost-effective ways to slow down or stop a wildfire from reaching your property.
Property Maintenance Checklist
Remove dead plants and dry leaves.
Trim tree branches so they stay at least 10 feet away from your house and other structures.
Keep firewood stored away from your home.
Prune plants that are close to windows and under decks.
Keep your park strip trimmed and free of dry vegetation.
