South Ogden City announced several upcoming community initiatives in a newsletter published October 24. The city is preparing for winter parking ordinances and holiday activities while introducing new council representation.
Brittany Rocha has been appointed to the South Ogden City Council, taking a seat previously held by Councilmember Michael Howard. Rocha, who previously served on the South Ogden Planning Commission, stated she looks forward to working with Mayor Porter and city staff to balance the needs of the growing city with preserving community character. Additionally, South Ogden Youth City Council members took their official Oath of Office during the October 20, 2026 City Council meeting.
The South Ogden Fire Department is promoting Thanksgiving safety tips to prevent kitchen fires. Fire Chief Cameron West encouraged residents to stay with their cooking, keep the stovetop clear of flammable items, and keep children and pets at least three feet from hot surfaces. The department also recommends keeping a kitchen-rated fire extinguisher readily accessible and advised that if a grease fire occurs, residents should slide a lid over the pan and turn off the burner rather than using water.
Several community programs and deadlines were noted for the upcoming months. Mayor Porter is accepting nominations for the Residential Recognition Program via email for residents who deserve to be honored for making others' lives better. For those interested in supporting Weber County RAMP Grant applications for South Ogden Days Entertainment or Meadows Park Phase 2 upgrades, letters of support are due by December 1, 2026. Additionally, the Angel Tree program at the South Ogden Police Department will be available starting Monday, November 23, 2026, to assist families in need.
Chimes View Drive is now officially open, though crews may still be working nearby to complete final minor work items and project clean-up. Meanwhile, the winter parking ordinance will be in effect from November 1, 2026, until April 1, 2027. Under this ordinance, it is illegal to park on the street 12 hours before a snowstorm, with restrictions continuing until 24 hours after the storm has passed. No overnight parking is permitted between midnight and 7 a.m.
The annual Resident Feedback Survey is currently open and will close on November 30, 2026. Residents can also participate in Small Business Saturday on November 28, 2026.
