Weber State football will host No. 21 Idaho State at Stewart Stadium for a 1 p.m. homecoming kickoff. The Bengals aim to keep the Train Bell Trophy in Ogden during this second of three trophy games scheduled for the season.
The matchup features a return to Ogden for Idaho State defensive coordinator Grant Duff, a former longtime Weber State coach. Duff, who is working with head coach Cody Hawkins to elevate the Bengals, noted that Weber State's offense is difficult to defend. He stated that the team is successfully throwing and running the ball, noting they are the second-leading rushing offense in the Big Sky. Duff also remarked that while he has good memories of coaching at Stewart Stadium, the people who made those times special are no longer there.
Weber State enters the contest with a 4-3 record (3-1 in the Big Sky) following losses to Northern Arizona and Cal Poly. The Bengals' offense is led by quarterback Jordan Cooke, who averages 272.3 passing yards per game with 14 touchdowns and six interceptions. Tytan Mason leads the rushing attack with 62.8 yards per game. Defensively, the Bengals lead the Big Sky with 17 sacks, while senior linebacker Nathan Reynolds leads the team with 54 tackles.
Idaho State, ranked No. 21, holds a 4-2 record (1-2 in the Big Sky) and enters the game with 13 defensive sacks. The Bengals' offense averages 34.8 points per game. The game is scheduled to be broadcast in Utah on KJZZ and KMYU, with an online stream available on ESPN+. Radio coverage for Weber State will be provided by Carl Arky and Dave Stireman on 103.1 FM.
Weber State holds an all-time series lead of 49-17 against Idaho State. While the Bengals have a 25-6 record in Ogden, Idaho State won the last matchup at Stewart Stadium. The Bengals' current streak of holding the Train Bell Trophy began after the trophy was unearthed from library archives in 2024.
