Real Salt Lake will host long-time rival LA Galaxy on Saturday, Nov. 7, for Major League Soccer’s 2026 Decision Day. The match in Sandy is a must-win affair for the Claret-and-Cobalt as multiple simultaneous games carry postseason implications across the league.
Real Salt Lake enters the contest with a 12-15-6 record and 42 points, sitting just one point behind the Portland Timbers, Seattle Sounders, and Colorado Rapids for the final Western Conference playoff spots. A victory against the Galaxy, combined with dropped points from those three teams, could allow RSL to finish as high as seventh in the West. Such a result would extend the club's postseason qualification streak to six seasons, which includes eight of the last nine years and 16 of 19 campaigns dating back to 2008.
The match features several key individual storylines. RSL will welcome back Designated Player Morgan Guilavogui, who missed the previous match due to a yellow-card suspension. Rookie and 2026 Golden Boot leader Sergi Solans needs one goal on Saturday to match the club record of 19 total goals set by Alvaro Saborio in 2012. Additionally, Solans could match the MLS all-time rookie record of 17 goals if he records a hat trick during the contest.
Defensive rotations are expected, as Justen Glad could make his first home start since May 16. While Lukas Engel has returned from a hamstring injury, the status of winger Zach Booth remains questionable following a dislocated shoulder. Head Coach Pablo Mastroeni, who has managed 220 matches with an average of 1.60 points per game, leads a team that has won 59 of 238 games when scoring first during his tenure.
The match will be broadcast on Apple TV with English-language commentary by Christian Miles and Kacey White. Spanish-language analysis will be provided by Jorge Perez-Navarro and Marcelo Balboa, while KBMG Latino 106.3 FM will feature Manuel Hernández, Willy Barrueta, and Isidro López.
