The Orem City Council is scheduled to hold public hearings on June 23, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m. The meetings will take place in the City of Orem Council Chambers, located at 56 North State Street, Orem, Utah.
Recreation center land use amendment
The hearings will consider several text amendments to the Orem City Code. One proposal seeks to amend Article 22-11-17(B) to include recreation centers, identified as Standard Land Use #7424, as a permitted use within the PD-5 Zone.
New permitted uses in manufacturing zone
A second hearing will address a request to amend Appendix A of the code. This amendment would allow barber shops (Standard Land Use #6231) and tattoo and body piercing services (Standard Land Use #6232) as permitted uses in the M2 Manufacturing Zone.
Neighborhood meeting requirement changes
Additionally, the Council will consider a staff proposal to amend articles 22-14-20(I) and 22-1-5(G). These changes involve neighborhood meeting requirements, specifically regarding notice distances, deadlines, permissible meeting dates, and criteria for supplemental meetings or re-noticing.
