Governor Spencer Cox has appointed Catherine Conklin to the District Court bench. Conklin, who previously served as a domestic relations commissioner in the Second District from 2007 through 2025, transitions to her new role on the court.

Judge Conklin's legal career includes time as a solo practitioner and a period as a partner at the firm of Farr Kaufman in Ogden starting in 2000.
Educational background and achievements
She earned her law degree from the University of California Hastings in 1996 after graduating magna cum laude from Weber State University in 1991.
Professional leadership and contributions
In addition to her judicial roles, Conklin served as the commissioner representative on the Board of District Court Judges and was a founding editor-in-chief of the Utah Journal of Family Law.
Awards and professional recognition
Conklin has been recognized with several professional distinctions, including the Women Lawyers of Utah Mentoring Award in 2017, the University of Utah Distinguished Pro Bono Award in 2019, and the Weber County Bar Association Public Servant of the Year in 2022.
