A conference held at Brigham Young University on September 25–26, 2025, commemorated the 30th anniversary of the delivery of The Family: A Proclamation to the World. Under the theme Experiencing Jesus Christ Through the Family Proclamation, the event aimed to celebrate and elevate the inspired document by focusing on how it serves as an extension of the Savior's mercy.
The conference was a joint effort sponsored by Religious Education, the School of Family Life, the Wheatley Institute, and the Center for Law and Religion Studies. A planning committee including Jason Carroll, Elizabeth Clark, Barbara Morgan Gardner, Erin Holmes, and Byran Korth worked for one year to organize the event.
The conference theme was inspired by an October 2024 address from Elder Dieter F. Uchtdorf, which encouraged nourishing the roots of testimony through faith in Jesus Christ. Organizers sought to invite participants to notice how the family proclamation testifies of Him and invites them to come unto Him.
Sister Amy A. Wright, first counselor in the General Primary Presidency, served as the keynote speaker. Using a puzzle analogy, she described how understanding foundational pieces helps build a larger context for prophetic counsel. She identified four foundational truths within the proclamation: that marriage between a man and woman is ordained of God, the family is central to the Creator's plan, all humans are created in the image of God, and gender is an essential characteristic of identity.
Additional presentations were delivered by BYU faculty, including Philip Allred, Jenet Erickson, Michael Goodman, Byran Korth, Ty Mansfield, and Brian Mead. Barbara Morgan Gardner provided the closing address, which highlighted the experience of former General Relief Society President Elaine Jack during the original delivery of the proclamation.
The two-day event was well attended by students and faculty, with attendees expressing gratitude for the Christ-centered messages. Some students noted that the presentations strengthened their resolve to stay close to the Savior through family life.
