The Skyridge football team earned a dominant 42-7 Homecoming victory against the Skyline Eagles on Friday, Sept. 11, according to a Lehi Free Press report. The win follows an emotional victory against Liberty High School for the squad led by head coach Justin Hemm.
Junior quarterback Jagger Fountaine led the Falcon offense, overcoming a slight ankle tweak during the second quarter to complete several touchdown passes. Fountaine connected with Omarian Sanders on a 20-yard touchdown in the first quarter, and later threw touchdown passes to Malosi Shepard and Steeler Wesley. Fountaine's final scoring drive ended with a 16-yard touchdown pass to Koa Wallwork.
Running back Beckham Bennett contributed 94 yards on 11 carries, including a 31-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Sophomore Ului Faletau also participated in the ground game. The Skyridge offensive line, led by senior Andy Anderson, helped establish control over the line of scrimmage.
Skyridge's defense recorded five turnovers, including four interceptions. Junior safety Ethan Schriever recorded two interceptions, while sophomore Marcus White and sophomore linebacker Drayson Afalava each recorded one. Senior Latu Moea'i added a fumble recovery. Senior defensive lineman Carter Seu recorded six tackles, three hurries, and 1.5 sacks, while senior defensive lineman Sua Ripley recorded four hurries, three tackles, and a sack.
Skyridge moves to a 4-1 record following the win. The team is scheduled to travel to face Lehi for their region opener on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 7 p.m.
