Georgia has risen to No. 1 in the latest AP Top 25 college football rankings, according to a report published October 11. The Bulldogs took the top spot after receiving 66 first-place votes following a road victory over Alabama.
The ranking shift for Georgia follows a combination of their win over Alabama and a loss by Texas. Texas fell to No. 7 after losing to unranked Oklahoma, dropping out of the top five. Meanwhile, Alabama remained at No. 6 despite their loss to Georgia.
Several teams saw significant movement in the poll. UCLA surged nine spots to No. 12 after defeating No. 13 Oregon 17-15. This victory resulted in Oregon falling out of the rankings entirely. LSU dropped 12 spots to No. 22 following a loss to Kentucky. Kentucky rejoined the top 25 at No. 15 after winning against LSU, marking their highest ranking since 2022.
Northwestern returned to the AP poll for the first time since the 2020 season, occupying the No. 25 spot. This movement opened space in the rankings previously held by Florida and Pittsburgh, both of whom fell out of the poll after losing conference games to South Carolina and North Carolina, respectively.
The latest rankings include several undefeated teams, including Georgia, Notre Dame, Miami (FL), Indiana, and BYU. Notable matchups scheduled for the upcoming week include No. 2 Notre Dame at No. 8 BYU and No. 4 Ohio State at No. 5 Indiana.
Other teams receiving votes in the latest poll include Wisconsin, Arizona, Nebraska, Oklahoma, James Madison, Florida, Duke, New Mexico, and Oregon State.
