Connie Cardall Gilbert passed away on August 30, 2026, according to a September 1 statement from Webb Funeral Home. Born on June 19, 1948, Gilbert was a former educator and a resident of Fairview, Idaho, who grew up in Bountiful, Utah.
Gilbert was a graduate of Bountiful High School, class of 1966, where she played clarinet in the concert and pep bands and served as the literary yearbook editor. She attended Utah State University on a scholarship to study elementary education. While at the university, she met Max Gilbert, and the couple married in the Salt Lake City Temple on August 15, 1968.
Following her graduation, Gilbert lived in the Salt Lake area before moving to Fairview, Idaho, to support her husband's family dairy farm. She began her teaching career as a substitute in the Preston School District before becoming a full-time second-grade teacher, a role she held until her retirement in May 2011.
In addition to her teaching career, Gilbert was active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society organizations, and as a ward organist. She and Max also served a 18-month full-time mission at the Washington Vancouver Mission Office beginning in 2013.
Gilbert lived with Parkinson’s disease for 18 years, continuing to teach for several years after her diagnosis and completing her mission with her husband. In her final years, she resided at Birch Creek Assisted Living in Smithfield.
She is survived by four children: Jamie Lewis, Christi Johnson, Ryan Gilbert, and Kevin Gilbert; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Max, her parents, her sister, Julie Summers, and her brother-in-law, Stephen Meek.
Funeral services for Gilbert were scheduled for September 5, 2026, at the Fairview First Ward Chapel. A viewing was scheduled for September 4, 2026, at Webb Funeral Home.
