The Escalante City Council has scheduled a regular meeting for Sept. 1, 2026, according to an August 27 notice. The meeting is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. at the Escalante City Council Chambers located at 65 North Center Street.
The agenda for the upcoming meeting includes the adoption of the agenda and approval of the minutes from the Aug. 18, 2026, regular meeting. Scheduled discussion items include poisonous spray with Gary Griffin, fire department scene lighting units and tools with Bill Weppner, security cameras, and data privacy awareness training video.
Council members are scheduled to provide reports on various departments. Mayor Melani Torgersen will discuss employees, the cemetery, and the fire department. Council members will also provide updates on water, the airport, streets and storm water drainage, building, parks and recreation, main street and clinic, and sanitation and landfill.
The meeting includes time for public comment regarding items not on the agenda, with a two-minute maximum per person. A tentative closed meeting may be held in accordance with Utah Code 52-4-205. Individuals requiring special accommodations should notify City Recorder Stephanie Steed at least 48 hours before the meeting.
