The Memphis Grizzlies will open their new season Wednesday night at FedExForum against the Utah Jazz, according to a October 21 report. The game is scheduled to include a pregame tribute to honor former Grizzlies forward Brandon Clarke.
Clarke, who spent his entire seven-year NBA career with the Grizzlies, died earlier this year at his home in California. To honor him, the Grizzlies will hold a pregame ceremony and a moment of silence before the season opener. Additionally, the team will wear jerseys featuring a patch with Clarke’s initials throughout the season.
Jazz forward Jaren Jackson Jr., a former teammate of Clarke from 2019 to 2026 and one of Clarke’s best friends, will return to Memphis for the game.
Grizzlies guard Cam Spencer stated that the tribute will be emotional for the team. Spencer noted that the team intends to play with the same effort Clarke displayed every time he was on the floor.
