The West Haven Planning Commission scheduled a public hearing for August 26, 2026, to review proposed changes to Title XV regarding land usage, design review, and landscaping standards and requirements. According to an August 13 notice, the hearing will address specific sections of the city code, including § 157.730 through § 157.737 and § 157.985 through 157.996(7).
The proposed changes include moving certain landscape standards from the design review sections to the landscaping standards and requirements sections of the code. The updates aim to provide additional definitions, clarifications, and more detail for general landscape provisions.
Specific modifications include updated landscaping requirements for public facilities, commercial, industrial, and multi-family residential projects. These updates cover landscape buffering, parking lot landscaping islands, and clarified standards for multi-family projects. The changes also include new standards for developments with water source limitations, requirements for grading plans as part of landscape plans, and recommended landscape patterns for single-family lots.
Additionally, the proposal includes updated standards for tree and shrub regulation for public ways and places and the removal of the Supplementary Standards Section (157.994). The notice also mentions the removal of some bond and escrow language to comply with new state law.
The hearing will take place at 6:00 PM in the Commission Chambers located at 4150 South 3900 West, West Haven, Utah. Interested persons may participate in person or digitally via Zoom.
