Fairmont Park, a 27.07-acre green space located in Salt Lake City’s Sugar House neighborhood, is scheduled for major improvements. The project aims to enhance the park's north end, implement safety upgrades throughout the grounds, install new public art, and upgrade the existing half-court basketball area into a full-court facility.
The project design team conducted site analysis and community engagement meetings throughout 2025 to develop a final concept design that responds to stakeholder feedback using approved Salt Lake City capital improvement funding.
Funding for the improvements is allocated through various sources. A $5 million GO Bond will fund the revitalization of the park's north end to create a more inviting entrance, while an additional $1.5 million from the GO Bond is designated for safety enhancements.
Other upgrades include a $754,000 allocation from the FY24/25 CIP to expand and potentially relocate the basketball court to a full-court facility. Additionally, up to $140,000 from the FY24/25 CIP Percent-for-Art fund has been allocated for a public art commission managed by the Salt Lake City Arts Council.
The project is currently in the design and document review phase, with the team adjusting designs based on feedback from a second round of public input. Following the development of construction documents, Public Lands will begin the bidding process to select a contractor.
Construction is tentatively expected to begin in 2027.
