Deseret Peak High School released the Arena Scheduling windows for students preparing for the 2026–2027 school year. The scheduling process, conducted through Skyward, provides students the opportunity to build their own schedules, including selecting specific teachers and class periods.
Rules for Finalizing Student Schedules
Under this system, the built schedule will be finalized provided that students account for all core graduation requirements, meet prerequisites, avoid holes in their schedules, and no changes are required to the master schedule. School officials noted that because students build their own schedules, there would be no schedule changes permitted once school started in the fall.
April 2026 Grade Level Windows
The scheduling windows for different grade levels were set for April 2026:
Class of 2027 (Seniors): Opened Monday, April 6, and closed Sunday, April 19.
Class of 2028 (Juniors): Opened Tuesday, April 7, and closed Sunday, April 19.
Class of 2029 (Sophomores): Opened Wednesday, April 8, and closed Sunday, April 19.
Class of 2030 (Freshmen): Opened Thursday, April 9, and closed Sunday, April 19.
Using Master Schedule Indicators
Students were advised to use the Master Schedule to plan ideal schedules and backups. The system utilized specific indicators, where 'A' represented alternate classes, 'F' indicated full classes, 'P' denoted prerequisites, and 'C' identified co-requisites.
TA and Release Period Requirements
Specific requirements and considerations were outlined for various student groups. Teacher Aide (TA) positions were limited to 11th and 12th-graders in good standing with a 2.5 GPA, requiring signed permission slips to be turned in during April. For students seeking 'Release to Parent' free periods, forms had to be submitted during Arena Scheduling in March.
Scheduling Tryout-Based Elective Classes
Students interested in tryout-based classes, such as Dance Company, Drill Team, Cheerleading, or Band, were advised not to schedule required classes during those specific periods. Instead, they were encouraged to use electives that could be forfeited if they did not make the team.
New Fee-Free Graduation Law
Regarding graduation costs, beginning in the 2026–27 school year, Utah law requires a Fee-Free Path to Graduation. This allows students to graduate without paying class fees. While course listings indicate which classes have fees, final approval for the 2026–27 fee schedule was slated for June 1.
For additional support, counselors were made available at The Nest from April 6 through April 9 until 5 pm. Assigned counselors included Charlene Kellmer for students with last names A through HA, Alisha Dangerfield for HE through PO, and Ky Fisher, Head Counselor, for PR through Z.
