The Art Design Board, a separate entity within the Salt Lake Arts Council, specifically oversees the city's public art program. This board is responsible for reviewing public art policy and determining the allocation of funds for artwork commissioned during eligible construction projects.
The board remains active in the artist selection process to ensure the integration of art into the city's infrastructure.
Board Governance
The Salt Lake City Arts Council Board is composed of members appointed by Mayor Erin Mendenhall. These members serve three-year terms and are expected to be city residents with a background or enthusiasm for the arts.
As of July 2026, the board's executive committee is led by Chair Matt Coles, alongside Vice Chair Travis English, Treasurer Caitlin Tursic, Secretary Cuauthemoc Sandoval, and At Large member Ignacio Rosenberg.

The board holds regularly scheduled meetings on the third Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. at the Art Barn, located at 54 Finch Lane. Upcoming sessions are scheduled for August 19, September 16, October 21, and November 18, 2026.
