The City of Boulder is set to host the Sundance Film Festival from Jan. 21 to 31, 2027. The city is working to prepare for the event by providing resources for visitors, lodging, and local business engagement.
To support the festival, the City of Boulder is offering various resources for community members, visitors, and partners. Property owners may utilize a Festival Lodging Rental License to rent out their homes for 29 days or less during city-approved Special Festival Events. This includes owners of properties with Long-Term Rental Licenses, provided they have tenant consent.
Local businesses and nonprofits in Colorado have the opportunity to become an Official Friend of the Sundance Film Festival without a fee. This program requires following guidelines intended to protect the festival experience and support the sustainability of the Boulder community and the Sundance Film Festival.
For those planning to attend, the city provides information on navigating the area without a car. Boulder offers over 300 miles of bike and multi-use paths, along with transit services, as part of a commitment to a sustainable, people-first transportation system.
Public safety for the event is being coordinated through regular meetings and collaboration. The Boulder Police Department and Boulder Fire-Rescue are working with partners including the Boulder Office of Disaster Management, the University of Colorado Boulder Police Department, and the Colorado State Patrol to ensure safety initiatives are in place before January 2027.
