A semi-truck driver was killed after being ejected from his vehicle during a single-vehicle rollover crash on Interstate 84 in Morgan County. The accident occurred just after 2 a.m. on Thursday, according to the Department of Public Safety.
Officials stated that the truck failed to negotiate a left-hand curve, which caused the vehicle to roll onto its side. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was ejected from the truck; he was declared dead at the scene.
A passenger was asleep in the truck during the incident and was uninjured. Authorities have not released the identities of either the driver or the passenger.
The truck was transporting apples, which spilled across the highway following the crash. The Department of Public Safety indicated that one lane would likely remain closed for most of Thursday to allow crews to remove the semi-truck and clean up the spilled cargo.
