In a report published August 23, authorities announced an investigation into a quintuple homicide after five bodies were discovered at a rural property in Forest Grove, Oregon. The discovery occurred after officials responded to reports of a vehicle fire at the location, situated approximately 48 kilometers west of downtown Portland.
Washington County police stated that responders found the remains of five people and several domestic animals at the scene. Detective Shannon Wilde explained that identifying the victims presents a logistical challenge due to the number of deceased individuals and the complexity of the crime scene. Officials noted the investigation is active and they are working to identify the victims and notify their families before releasing further details.
Police Chief Caprice Massey stated that she has not witnessed a crime scene of this complexity in her 22 years of service and urged anyone with information regarding the property or its residents to come forward.
A suspect, identified as 36-year-old Benjamin Charles Parker, was found dead inside a vehicle in Enumclaw, Washington, on Sunday. According to the Washington County Sheriff's Office, investigators believe Parker committed suicide. Authorities stated there is no threat to the public and did not provide information regarding Parker's connection to the victims or how he was located.
Detectives do not believe the incident was a random act of violence. While the investigation remains ongoing, authorities have not released the ages, genders, or identities of the deceased individuals, nor have they specified the type of animals found at the scene.
