Millville City officials announced Thursday that no private fireworks are permitted anywhere within city limits through July 5, following an executive orer issued by Governor Cox and a corresponding ban by the State Forester.
The prohibition on private firework usage is currently in effect and is scheduled to remain active through July 5, according to a notice released by the City of Millville on July 2. The restriction follows specific directives from Governor Cox and the State Forester regarding all private use of fireworks during this period.
City officials noted that while the current window of the ban covers the immediate holiday period, fireworks are always banned in Millville outside of this specific timeframe as well. The city plans to reevaluate the restrictions prior to the Pioneer Day holiday, though any changes will be based on prevailing environmental and safety conditions.
Despite the strict ban on private use within Millville, the city confirmed that neighboring municipalities are moving forward with planned public celebrations. The City of Millville stated that several nearby cities are still planning to hold commercial firework shows as permitted under the Governor’s specific order.
Specifically, the Logan City firework show is scheduled for July 3, and the Hyrum City firework show is set to take place on July 4. These professional displays remain authorized under the current state guidelines even as Millville maintains its zero-tolerance policy for private residents.
The city administration concluded its announcement by requesting the community's cooperation in adhering to these regulations to ensure public safety. The ban remains a primary focus for local officials as they monitor fire risks in the region during the holiday week.
