Intermountain Health planned to expand its partnership with physicians across a network of facilities and providers in Southeast Idaho. This expansion involved transitioning ownership interests from Surgery Partners to Intermountain Health for a network that includes two local hospitals and more than 60 affiliate clinics.
The network includes Mountain View Hospital, Idaho Falls Community Hospital, and affiliated clinics. These facilities employ approximately 2,300 physicians and caregivers. Since 2023, Intermountain Health, Surgery Partners, and local physicians have operated as collaborative owners of the network.
Under the proposed plans, operations were to remain separate and continue to be managed by the existing management team. Existing physicians and affiliated provider groups were expected to maintain responsibility for providing day-to-day patient care. Providers and caregivers employed by these facilities were to remain in their current employment arrangements.
The completion of the transaction was subject to customary closing conditions. These included the execution of binding Securities Purchase Agreements between Surgery Partners and Intermountain Health following required approvals from the Mountain View Hospital physician member and physician governing board. The source noted there was no assurance regarding the completion of the transaction until those approvals were obtained.
