The Cache County Sheriff's Office has issued a scam alert after receiving multiple reports from residents regarding fraudulent phone calls. Individuals are calling victims while pretending to represent the Sheriff's Office to demand payments.
According to the office, these scammers claim that failure to pay will result in an arrest and the issuance of a warrant.
The Sheriff's Office stated that these calls are not legitimate. Residents are advised never to provide personal information, credit card numbers, money, or pre-paid card information to callers.
Officials clarified that the Cache County Sheriff's Office will never request payment over the phone for a warrant and will never ask for gift cards as a method of payment to resolve obligations.
