The Brownfields Assessment Grant Advisory Committee held a meeting on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, to discuss property and budget updates for various assessment sites. The meeting was held both in person at the Jordan River Conference Room and virtually via Webex.
According to meeting agenda items, the committee addressed a property budget request for Midvale Public Works. The request included an additional $43,500 for a Site Action Plan, Phase II ESA, and HMI, following a previously approved $3,500 for Phase I.
During the meeting, Rachel Boyett provided updates on several properties under assessment. The SLC Rio Grande Phase II assessment remains on hold pending site access permission. Additionally, the CDCU 1084 W 1700 S property is progressing through a Phase II assessment. The SLC Crossroads Thrift Store was sampled on a Friday and a Phase II assessment report is expected by mid-May.
The committee also reviewed the status of the CDCU Emeril Ave Apartments, which received Site Eligibility Determination approval for two additional parcels to be included on the Hazardous Materials Survey.
Regarding the budget, Rachel Boyett noted that most grant funds are committed to active property assessments. Once these assessments are completed, the County will determine the remaining grant support and funds available for additional assessments. The EPA is expected to provide updates regarding the 2026 Coalition Assessment Grant cycle in mid-May, with the cooperative agreement anticipated to begin on October 1.
The next committee meeting is scheduled for September 1, 2026, or as needed.
