Two males, ages 14 and 19, were transported to area hospitals Sunday following a side-by-side vehicle rollover down the side of a mountain.
Utah County Sheriff deputies and Santaquin police responded to the call at 6:07 p.m. in the Pole Canyon area.
Two medical helicopters were called to the scene, along with a Department of Public Safety helicopter equipped with a hoist if needed, according to Sgt. Austin Edwards of the Utah County Sheriff’s Office.
Rescue workers reached the vehicle's resting spot on the hill, where they stabilized and secured the victims before bringing them back down the hill to waiting helicopters, Edwards said.
The 19-year-old male was taken to Utah Valley Regional Medical Center in Provo, while the 14-year-old was transported to Primary Children's in Lehi.
While both individuals sustained critical injuries, those injuries were not considered life-threatening, according to Edwards.
The cause of the rollover remains under investigation.
