The Big Sky Conference has released its 2027 football schedule, revealing that Weber State will open its season at home against longtime rival Montana on Aug. 28. The announcement comes as the Wildcats continue their 2026 campaign, having previously defeated Idaho on Saturday, Oct. 10.
Wildcats 2027 Conference Schedule
Weber State's 2027 conference slate includes nine games, with four matches scheduled at home. The Wildcats will host Montana to begin the season, marking the first time the program has opened a season with a conference home game since 1996. This also marks the first time the team has opened a season against Montana.
Non-Conference and Early Season
The Wildcats' non-conference schedule includes a matchup against BYU on Sept. 4, with two additional non-conference opponents to be announced. Following the season opener, Weber State will face Idaho State on Sept. 25, followed by a home game against Northern Arizona on Oct. 2.
Late Season Matchups
Weber State's schedule also features road games against Eastern Washington on Oct. 9 and Utah Tech on Oct. 16. The team will return home to face Cal Poly on Oct. 23 and travel to Portland State on Oct. 30. The final two conference games will be against Northern Colorado at home on Nov. 6 and at Southern Utah on Nov. 13.
Thunderbirds Schedule and Outlook
The Southern Utah Thunderbirds will play an eight-game league slate, split evenly between four home games at Eccles Coliseum and four road trips. Head Coach DeLane Fitzgerald said the schedule is difficult, noting that the conference is one of the deepest in the FCS.
Southern Utah Conference Play
Southern Utah will begin Big Sky play on Sept. 25 at Northern Arizona before returning to Cedar City to host Utah Tech on Oct. 2. Following an open week on Oct. 9, the Thunderbirds will host Idaho on Oct. 16. The team's road schedule includes trips to Eastern Washington on Oct. 23 and Idaho State on Oct. 30.
Thunderbirds Season Conclusion
The Thunderbirds will conclude their home slate with consecutive games at Eccles Coliseum against Montana State on Nov. 6 and Weber State on Nov. 13. The regular season will end on Nov. 20 with a game against Cal Poly. Southern Utah will not face Montana, Northern Colorado, Portland State, or UC Davis during the 2027 conference season.
