Intermountain Health noted that pharmacists can also recommend over-the-counter options including acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and various nasal sprays.
Similar protocols are in place for influenza treatment. The service is available for adults aged 18 or older experiencing flu-like symptoms such as muscle aches, sore throat, or congestion. Clinical pharmacists may prescribe antiviral medications like oseltamivir (Tamiflu) to help shorten the duration of the illness. For those using the service, medication can be sent to a preferred pharmacy, and Intermountain Health advises seeking in-person medical evaluation if a fever exceeds 103 degrees Fahrenheit for more than three days.

The virtual platform also addresses dermatological concerns, including acne, rosacea, and dandruff. For acne treatment, the service is available to patients between the ages of 12 and 64. Clinical pharmacists provide evaluations that may result in prescriptions for oral or topical medications or recommendations for over-the-counter topical treatments. A recent update on June 29, 2026, highlighted a specific track for rosacea treatment for adults aged 18 to 64, offering similar evaluation and medication delivery services.
Managing dandruff and referrals
Dermatological care through the service also covers dandruff management for adults aged 18 to 64. Pharmacists can provide education on non-pharmacologic prevention methods and lifestyle modifications, alongside recommendations for topical medications. For patients with acne or rosacea, the service provides a pathway for referrals to Intermountain Health providers if the pharmacist determines that further in-person evaluation is necessary.

Consultation fees and insurance
Costs for the consultation services vary by condition. For COVID-19, GERD, motion sickness, dandruff, and influenza treatments, the consultation fee is set at $29, plus the cost of medication. The acne and rosacea services carry a slightly higher consultation fee of $39. While some insurance companies may cover these consultation fees, patients should note that Intermountain Health is currently unable to submit information for prior-authorization approval for certain acne or rosacea prescriptions.
