Katherina Holzhauser, a parishioner at St. Thomas More and the immediate past president of the Catholic Community Services Board of Trustees, has been named a 2026 Women Tech Awards honoree by the Women Tech Council. Holzhauser was scheduled to receive the honor on Sept. 17 at the Grand America Hotel in Salt Lake City.
Born in Prague, Czechoslovakia, Holzhauser moved to the United States as a child after her family fled the Soviet invasion. She earned bachelor's and master's degrees in computational linguistics from Stanford University.
Her career in the technology industry included a position at Boeing, where she eventually served as head of computer site operations for the Twin Isle airplane factories and facilities in Everett, Washington. After 13 years at Boeing, she relocated to Cottonwood Heights in 1999. Her professional history includes serving as chief information officer for Evans & Sutherland, founding Argosia Consulting, and holding roles at 3M Health Information Systems and Intermountain Health. In 2003, Utah Business magazine named her one of its 30 Risk Takers.
Holzhauser has been active in the Utah community, having served on the board of Utah’s Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society chapter and as a member of the Women's Leadership Institute of Utah for nine years.
Her faith has influenced her approach to technology, leading her to consider the ethical implications of artificial intelligence. Holzhauser noted that her religious beliefs encourage her to use technology to benefit humankind and protect the vulnerable. She has also served as a member of the parish council at St. Thomas More, where she and her husband participate in music ministry.
Now semi-retired and working as a selective consultant, Holzhauser expressed pride in a career dedicated to using technology to serve people. She has encouraged women entering technical fields to remain curious and to seek leadership roles by understanding the problems technology aims to solve.
