Lone Peak and Corner Canyon are scheduled to meet in the Class 6A Girls Volleyball State Tournament semifinals on Wednesday after both teams won twice on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, to advance. The No. 1 seed Lone Peak Knights and the No. 4 seed Corner Canyon Chargers set up the matchup during the tournament action at the UCCU Center.
Lone Peak defeated No. 5 Mountain Ridge 3-1 in the quarterfinals with scores of 25-10, 25-18, 18-25, and 25-14. Ava Burgess led the Knights with 21 kills and 14 digs. Other contributors for Lone Peak included Chevelle Peters, who recorded 12 kills, Cree Cooper, who had 10 kills, Luhanna Panta with 21 digs, and setter Bella Snow, who provided 56 assists. Burgess, a Stanford commit, had previously been sidelined due to a knee injury sustained while playing for the USA national teams in Nicaragua.
The semifinal round will feature an all-Region 3 lineup. No. 6 American Fork advanced after upsetting No. 3 Syracuse 3-1, and will face No. 2 seed Skyridge. Skyridge reached the semifinals by sweeping No. 7 Weber 3-0. Earlier in the tournament, Corner Canyon advanced by sweeping No. 16 Cedar Valley 3-0, while Lone Peak defeated No. 13 Layton 3-0.
Corner Canyon is the defending 6A state champion. In their previous meeting during Region 3 play this season, the Knights became the only Utah team to beat the Chargers, winning in four sets on Oct. 13, 2026, with Burgess totaling 30 kills. Lone Peak has claimed 13 state championships in its history.
Lone Peak coach Kalee Faumui described the upcoming matchup against Corner Canyon as a potential dogfight, noting that both teams possess significant talent in the front row.
