The Iron County Board of Education is reviewing boundary proposals for district schools in preparation for the opening of a new East Elementary building this fall, according to Canyon View High School communications.
Following open houses held at Cedar Middle and Canyon View Middle schools, the district is still accepting public input on the proposed boundaries. Parents can submit questions and comments via an online form, while public comment periods are scheduled for Board of Education meetings on Jan. 27 and Feb. 24.
A specific public hearing regarding the boundary proposal is set for 6 p.m. Feb. 17 in the board room at 2077 W. Royal Hunte Drive. Once the Board of Education considers the boundaries during its Feb. 24 meeting, parents will have a 30-day window to apply for a variance due to any adjustments.
Canyon View High School has also announced several upcoming student activities and programs. A beading class taught by Jeremy Garcia is scheduled for March 3 from 4 to 6 p.m. in Mrs. Manesse's room, an event open to high school and middle school students, as well as elementary students accompanied by parents.
Other scheduled events include the Good Leadership Conference on April 16 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Southwest Technical College, and the CVHS spring choir concert on May 11 at 7 p.m. Additionally, the school has released information regarding summer school programming.
Regarding campus safety and administration, Iron County Schools reminded volunteers on April 14 that all individuals chaperoning field trips or assisting with classroom parties must complete a background check and volunteer training. The district noted that results can take up to one week and those without clearance will be unable to volunteer.
Earlier school year events included the CVHS Christmas concert held on December 15, 2025.
