New Fort Douglas website launched
University of Utah Communications
On Saturday, Aug. 8, the University of Utah will complete a historic relocation of U.S. Army Reserve and National Guard personnel and transfer of the final 50 acres of active military land at Fort Douglas.
To mark the historic land transfer, the website fortdouglas.utah.edu was created and is now online to preserve the history of Fort Douglas.
Prior to the final transfer of land, a total of 1,534 acres had been handed over to the university during the past 126 years, including land now used for Utah Athletics facilities, the Natural History Museum of Utah, Red Butte Garden, U of U Health Hospitals and Clinics and student housing along historic Fort Douglas Circle.
Read more on the website about the U’s history as neighbors and partners in the eastern foothills above Salt Lake City and how Fort Douglas will continue to help power the future of the U.
