The Iron County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed the identity of the person whose remains were discovered this spring in Beryl.
The remains have been identified as those of 62-year-old Michael Greene, who lived in the area where the remains were located, according to a statement from the Sheriff's Office.
The remains were originally found on April 12 near 8600 West and 4800 North in Beryl. While officials determined the remains were human, the individual could not be immediately identified at that time, and the remains were moved to the Medical Examiner’s office.
The investigation into the identity of the deceased progressed on June 9, when a family member of Greene emailed the Iron County Sheriff's Office expressing concerns because they had not heard from him in several months.
The investigation confirmed that the remains belonged to Greene, who previously resided in the greater Salt Lake City area.
The Iron County Sheriff's Office stated that the investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at this time.
