A woman is dead and a juvenile female family member has been taken into custody following an early morning shooting in Kanarraville, according to a August 29 report by Gephardt Daily.
Iron County Sheriff officials responded to an emergency call at 4:19 a.m. Saturday in the area of 400 S. Main St. The Iron County Sheriff's Office stated that a juvenile female intentionally shot an adult family member.
Deputies arrived at the scene and attempted to provide aid, but found the adult female was deceased, officials said. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.
Due to her juvenile status, the identity of the suspect will not be released. The identity of the victim will be released following formal notification of the next of kin, officials stated.
An active investigation is currently underway. The Iron County Sheriff's Office characterized the shooting as an isolated incident and noted there is no threat to the community.
