Salt Lake City Public Lands is working with consultant BerryDunn to develop the Strategic Capital, Acquisition, and Asset Management Plan (SCAAMP). This internal initiative aims to enhance public land services for a growing city by aligning with strategic goals and funding frameworks.
The plan is designed to create a dynamic and adaptable roadmap to guide property acquisition, assessment management, development, and capital projects over the next five to ten years.
The SCAAMP project follows the completion of the Reimagine Nature Public Lands Master Plan two years ago, which established broad departmental goals. The new plan seeks to establish a roadmap for accomplishing those goals and determine specific project priorities and timelines.
A statistically valid survey will be released to Salt Lake City residents in mid-February 2025 to assess current public land usage and identify remaining needs within the city's system. All Salt Lake City residents are invited to participate in the survey to help guide implementation priorities for the Reimagine Nature Public Lands Master Plan.
The project timeline includes several phases, beginning with project initiation in fall 2024. Following the public survey in February 2025, the department will move through asset management plan development in winter 2025, followed by strategic capital and acquisition plan developments throughout the summer and fall of 2025.
The final SCAAMP plan is expected to be completed before the end of 2025, with the outcomes made available to the public.
