The Lehi Free Press is inviting residents throughout northern Utah County to support families at the Ronald McDonald House Family Room at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital, Miller Family Campus, in Lehi. According to a report published August 19, the newspaper office will serve as a collection point for donations through Oct. 1.
The Family Room, located on the third level of the hospital, provides a space for parents and caregivers to rest and tend to basic needs while remaining close to hospitalized children. The facility includes a kitchen, dining area, living room, quiet meeting spaces, laundry facilities, showers, restrooms, and four overnight guest rooms. All amenities are provided free of charge.
Ronald McDonald House Mountain West has identified several high-need items for the Lehi Family Room. Requested items include new toys, games, crafts, or stuffed animals; disposable forks and spoons; large paper plates and bowls; and individually packaged snacks like cookies and chips. Other needed supplies include new blankets, travel-size toothpaste, deodorant, and lotion, as well as hair ties, nail clippers, hairbrushes, and menstrual products.
All donated items must be new to protect the health of pediatric patients and their families. Food items must be unexpired and commercially packaged. Donations can be brought to the Lehi Free Press office at 29 N. 100 W. in Lehi between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m., Monday through Thursday.
The Lehi Family Room is part of the Ronald McDonald House Mountain West network. While the organization also operates a residential house in Salt Lake City, the Family Room is located within the hospital to allow caregivers to stay near medical units. Additionally, the Together at the Table program allows groups of up to eight people to volunteer to prepare and serve meals for approximately 30 individuals.
